- Hide your scale. Don’t be so obsessed with a number, weight fluctuates and will give you false highs and lows. There are significant changes occurring in your body when undertaking a weight loss plan. - Cut out media. Don’t you notice on TV that there are tons of food commercials with huge blowup shots of irresistible food? Advertisers know exactly what they are doing and spends millions of dollars on research to trigger your food cravings. This applies to cooking shows also. This will help a lot to minimize your food cravings.
- Motivate with clothes. Plan a reward for your weight loss progress with some new clothes that you’re gonna have to lost weight to get into. New clothes make us feel good and we want to wear them right away. Also reward yourself with some cute workout clothes that you will look good and athletic in.
- Reward yourself. Get a massage or a manicure as a reward for your hard work and motivation. Don’t reward yourself with food. But treat yourself and use this as an excuse to pay more attention to your body and your ultimate goal of weight loss. As you are enjoying your reward focus on the weight loss progress you have made and how far you have come.
- Take it a day at a time. It may seem overwhelming at first to get to where you want to be but be consistent and take it a day at a time. After all it took a long time to put that weight on and it will also take some time to take it off again. Break it down so it’s manageable and spend more time thinking about not just losing weight but being healthy. Change your habits like parking far away and walking, taking the stairs. Change your whole diet and try new things.
- Before and after. Document your progress with some selfies. You may not like what you see at first but the transformation you see will be a great motivator. This will provide good mental image feedback to your brain and it will be fun to see the weight loss progress you have made.
Everyone’s weight loss progress will be unique and only you know best what your food triggers are so address them head-on. Don’t get discouraged even if you slip once in a while, give yourself permission and just keep moving forward.
